Made It: The Women Who Revolutionized Fashion
[Guided Tour with Petra Slinkard]
We are so excited to announce that The Fashion Map and Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) are teaming up to offer a special guided tour of the Made It: The Women Who Revolutionized Fashion exhibition with Petra Slinkard, Director of Curatorial Affairs and The Nancy B. Putnam Curator of Fashion and Textiles! The exhibition ends on March 14th so if you live in the area, this is one of the last days to view the exhibition and what better way to do so than with the Curator herself!
Made It: The Women Who Revolutionized Fashion showcases more than 100 works, spanning 250 years, recognizing women's often-overlooked contributions to the fashion and design industry. From Mary Todd Lincoln’s seamstress to Elsa Schiaparelli and Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, to experimental labels like Chromat, women designers have transcended genres and revolutionized ideas of identity. Made It features show-stopping ensembles, street fashion, ready-to-wear, and haute couture that illuminate issues of representation, creativity, consumption, transculturation, and distinctiveness which have and continue to impact the fashion industry.
